New Teacher Onboarding

Most schools hand new teachers a handbook and a key. We help you build something better: a structured, humane onboarding experience that reduces overwhelm, builds real classroom readiness, and signals to new teachers that this is a school worth staying in.

1
Assess your current onboarding We review what new teachers currently experience and identify what is working and what is not.
2
Deliver an improved onboarding We design and facilitate a revised onboarding experience built around your school's context and culture.
3
Train your team to sustain it We build your internal capacity so the work continues and improves every year, without us.
Benefits
  • Reduce new-teacher turnover
  • Build confidence and classroom readiness faster
  • Create a welcoming, supportive school culture
  • Establish clear goals and expectations from day one
  • Strengthen teacher cohesion and reduce isolation

Mentor Training

Good mentors are not made by assigning them. We help schools build a structured mentor program where experienced teachers are trained in coaching, observation, and feedback, so the relationship is genuinely useful to both people in it.

1
Assess your current mentor program We start by understanding what you already have, who is doing what, and whether it is actually working.
2
Train mentors in coaching, observation, and feedback We run deep-skill sessions that move mentors from advice-giving to the harder work of listening, observing, and asking the right questions.
3
Launch a structured mentor support program We help you build a sustainable system with clear expectations, regular touchpoints, and shared language for growth.
Benefits
  • Create more consistent instructional practices across classrooms
  • Build a culture where teachers keep learning and growing
  • Increase retention of experienced staff through meaningful roles
  • Improve student learning outcomes
  • Build a pipeline of teacher leaders

Curriculum Alignment

When teachers across grades and departments work in isolation, students pay the price with repeated content, confusing gaps, and a curriculum that does not add up to a coherent education. We help school teams build a shared roadmap.

1
Audit curriculum for gaps and redundancy We map what is currently being taught across grades and subjects to find the overlaps and the holes.
2
Lead alignment sessions with teacher teams We facilitate structured conversations that build shared goals, shared language, and genuine buy-in from the people doing the teaching.
3
Build scope and sequence frameworks We help your teams produce practical, usable documents that guide instruction without over-prescribing it.
Benefits
  • Reduce redundancy and gaps between grade levels
  • Build teaching teams with shared goals and language
  • Increase interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Support new teachers with a clearer roadmap from day one
  • Increase student learning through coordinated curricula

Elevate Student Voices: Creating Student Leaders

Schools that treat students as passive recipients get passive students. We help schools build the structures, habits, and culture that give students genuine ownership, voice, and leadership inside their own education.

1
Assess your current student leadership structures We look at what exists, what students actually have a say in, and where student voice gets heard versus where it gets managed.
2
Design student leadership programs We help you build formal and informal structures: advisory boards, student-led initiatives, community projects, and classroom practices that center student perspective.
3
Train teachers to facilitate student leadership We work directly with teachers on the classroom-level shifts that make student agency possible without sacrificing rigor.
Benefits
  • Increase student engagement, ownership, and sense of belonging
  • Strengthen teacher-student relationships and trust
  • Develop transferable leadership and communication skills in students
  • Build a school culture where student perspective shapes decisions
  • Create structures that sustain student voice beyond any individual program

Common Questions

Questions about school consulting

Both public and independent K-12 schools around the world. The most common focus areas are new teacher orientation, mentor programs, student leadership initiatives, and curriculum alignment.

Every school is different, so we start with a discovery call to understand where you are and what you're trying to do. From there, a Faculty Lounge consultant works with your leadership team to develop professional development sessions and systems of support. Some schools work with us intensively over a year, and others bring us in for a focused workshop series.

It depends on the scope. A targeted professional development workshop can be a single day. A new-teacher induction program can take a few days of new-teacher training. Most ongoing consulting relationships run for one school year to allow time for real implementation, refinement, and hand-off to school leadership.
