Yes, completely. The Faculty Lounge is a free resource for teachers at every stage of their career. Mentors volunteer their time, and we don't charge for matching or for any part of the communication.
It depends on what you need. Most mentors help by listening and talking with you to help you come up with a plan. They can help with things like classroom management, lesson planning, navigating school culture, work-life balance, and the general overwhelm of teaching, especially in the first few years. You set the agenda and ask for what you need.
There's no set timeline. Some teachers meet with their mentor weekly for a full school year; others connect for a few sessions around a specific challenge and then stay in touch. You and your mentor decide what works for you.
